Nutrition 21, Purchase, NY, has identified an isomer of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) that resulted in a significant increase in glucose metabolism in muscle cells without the addition of insulin. The research further demonstrated that a combination of chromium picolinate and the newly identified isomer of CLA resulted in an enhanced effect on glucose metabolism in muscle cells. Nutrition 21 has filed a patent application based on these research results, with plans to file additional patent applications in the future.
